One of eight manuscript letters sent by Mrs Mary Bryce to her son, Lt John Henry Bryce, Bengal Artillery between May and December 1857 and subsequently returned. Bryce had died at the Siege of Lucknow. From a collection of 94 letters written by and sent to Lt John Henry Bryce, Bengal Artillery, between 1850 to 1857, as well as educational and other ephemera and a letter awarding the Indian Mutiny Medal with Lucknow clasp. Associated with the Siege of Lucknow, Indian Mutiny (1857-1859) 1857.
