Photograph of the Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the 7th Battalion Gold Coast Regiment, 81st Infantry Division, Royal West African Frontier Force, including RQMS Ronald James Mepham (standing in the back row, fourth from the right), India, 1945. The group sits or stands in three rows, with the officers in the centre of the front row, with trees and buildings, including one made of straw and wood, visible behind them. They are wearing khaki drill uniform, including shorts and slouch hats. While widely associated with Australian forces, slouch hats were issued on a large scale to the British 14th Army, most notably during the Burma campaign, during which RQMS Mepham was awarded an MBE. From a collection of six loose photographs relating to RQMS Ronald J Mepham, MBE, East Surrey Regiment and 7th Battalion, Gold Coast Regiment, 1945-46.
