Photograph of a cricket team, probably made up of officers from the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards, 1897 (c). The 12 men sit or stand in three rows with a wooden building behind them. They are wearing a mixture of cricket whites, striped caps and blazers or straw boater hats. A few of them are named, including Hugh Harrison (second from the left, back row); J A C Quilter (centre, back row); H W Studd; W Gosling; and Bruce Canning Vernon-Wentworth (possibly sitting in the centre of the middle row). Another man can be seen standing in the background. From a photograph album of 111 photographs entitled '2nd Battalion 1897-1909', relating to the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards in the UK, South Africa and Gibraltar from 1897 to 1909. Mostly group photos and individual portraits.
