Photograph of 16 senior non-commissioned officers and officers from the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards, 1903 (c). They pose for the image sitting or standing in two rows, with trees behind them. The image was probably taken in the United Kingdom after the battalion had returned from South Africa in October 1902. The men are wearing khaki service dress and slouch hats. The three officers are wearing peaked caps and either service dress, patrol jacket or frock coat. Some of them are named as: Orderly Room Colour Sergeant Martin (probably standing in the back row, third form the right); Drum Major Gilbert A R Ashman (standing on the right-hand side of the back row); Sgt Major William E Acraman (sitting in the front row, second from the left) and Colour Sgt Frederick Aston (front row, far right). The officers are Lt and Adjutant Humphrey St Leger Stucley (front row, third from the right wearing his patrol jacket); Lt Col Robert Gordon-Gilmour (front row, fourth from the left, wearing his frock coat) and QM and Honourary Captain William G A Garton (front row, third from the right, wearing service dress). From a photograph album of 111 photographs entitled '2nd Battalion 1897-1909', relating to the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards in the UK, South Africa and Gibraltar from 1897 to 1909. Mostly group photos and individual portraits.
