Description
Colour photolithograph greetings card after a painting, artist unknown, 1917. Published for the Australian Comforts Funds, 1917. Sent by Cpl Thomas Gordon, Australian Field Artillery, to his wife Lucie, 1917. A soldier sets the Australian Flag into a mound of stones, with burnt trees, and an explosion in the background. Associated with Australian Imperial Force. Associated with World War One, Western Front (1914-1918). Cpl Thomas Gordon was killed on 17 Aug 1918 and is buried in Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, France.
