Sent from Ens Dennis Downes, 31st Bengal Native Infantry at Neemuch (Nimach) in Gwalian territory to Lt Joseph Walker Jasper Ouseley, 28th Bengal Native Infantry, Professor of Persian and Arabic at the College of Fort William, Calcutta.
Downes discusses his private affairs, but also mentions the order on the public treasury that he has made for the 200 troopers he scraped together to support a police action against the Pindaree.
Carries the rare strike of the Meywar Field Force, the first army postal agency in India which was in existence, 1818-1840.
