Typescript copy of a letter sent to Sgt G Adams, 12th Bn Middlesex Regiment by Lt Col Francis Aylmer Maxwell on 13 Oct 1916.
Adams was wounded during an advance led by Maxwell and unable to continue. Maxwell who was unaware of his injury at the time, writes to say how glad he us to have received a letter from Adams, to have found out what happened and to hear that Adams is alive and well, although he lost an eye. Maxwell adds how sorry he is to lose such an able Commanding Officer and congratulates Adams on his bravery under fire, and his gallantry in doing his duty.
