Description
East India Company Marine Officer’s sword, 1855 (c). Blade inscribed with crown, fouled anchor, crown and East India Company Lion; guard bears maker’s name, Deakin, and fouled anchor in cartouche; associated with Lt Clarence Canning Hearsey. Associated with Sir John Hearsey, commander of the Bengal Cavalry during the Indian Mutiny of 1857.
