Bound manuscript order book containing copies of General Cavalry Orders issued to the British Army of occupation in France, 15 Mar 1817-19 Oct 1818. The orders are mostly dated from Pont De Brique and were issued by authority of Lt Gen Sir Henry Fane, and his absence by Maj Gen Lord Edward Somerset. The orders refer to courts martial, return of men to be discharged to England, remounts and sales of cast horses, reviews and inspections, submission of returns, relations between the troops and the local population, and the drilling of the cavalry. This volume continues the series of orders in a separate volume also in the National Army Museum collection. From a collection of papers of Lt Gen Sir Richard Hussey Vivian, 1804-1818.
