MS Letter by Lawrence Lockhart Maxwell to his Father, Thomas Maxwell. The top of the letter is marked with the regimental badge of the Bengal Lancers. He opens the letter by telling his father that he has had influenza and that is why his last letter did not include much detail about the new country he has arrived in. The letter is addressed as being sent from Maitland camp and includes detail of his arrival to cape town and the march to Maitland camp.
