Inventory description: 32 letters from Brigadier General Lawrence Lockhart Maxwell to his family including his siter Nina Maxwell and his mother Violet Sophia Lockhart. The letters relate to his service with the Bengal Army (1894-1919) as well as the Wazirstian Field Force (1895) and the Boer War (1899-1902.) The letters include details of military tactics used by both the German and British militaries as wel as day to day activities. The letters are a mix of handwritten and typed and are written during his time in Europe, South Africa, India and the Middle East.
