Miniature Korean Medal 1950-53. Made from cupro-nickel with yellow ribbon with two blue stripes. On the obverse it bears the young Queen Elizabeth II’s head and on the reverse a depiction of Hercules wrestling with the Hydra. Inscribed below, ‘KOREA’. One of two miniature medals awarded to Georgina Johnstone, Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps, 1951-1955. Associated with Korea (1950-1953). The Korea Medal was awarded to all British and Commonwealth force who took part in the Korean War, July 1950 to 27 Jul 1953. This was a separate campaign medal awarded in addition to the General Service Medal 1918-62 for service in the Korean War.
